GETTING TO THE RANCH BY CAR
Getting to the Ranch From the North (Alpine, TX) 68 miles on 118 South, Right 2.2 miles on North County Road. Ten Bits Ranch is easily reached via North County Road just 2.2 miles west of Texas State Highway 118, 68 miles south of Alpine, Texas. North County Road intersects Hwy 118 approximately 1 mile south of the Longhorn Ranch Motel and Tivo’s Restaurant. Watch for the Longhorn Ranch Motel and Tivo’s sign as you travel south from Alpine. Although a public road, North County Road is unpaved. When dry, North County Road will provide access to most any vehicle.
From the South (Study Butte, TX) 11 miles on 118 North, Left 2.2 miles on North County Road. If you are driving North on Hwy. 118 from the Big Bend West Park entrance or from Highway 170 from Presidio/Lajitas, go North on Hwy. 118 from the intersection of Hwy. 170 (look for the blue Adopt-a-Highway trash clean up sign sponsored by Ten Bits Ranch while going up a large hill), 2 miles past that sign in North County Road on your lefthand side. If you pass the Longhorn Ranch Motel/Tivo’s Restaurant they you have gone too far and need to turn around. Via Air Travel For travelers wishing to incorporate commercial air travel in their plans, the nearest airports are located in Midland/Odessa (a 4 hour drive to the Ranch) or El Paso ( a 4 hour drive to the Ranch). Automobile rentals are available in most of the larger towns and in Alpine at Alpine Auto Rentals. Big Bend is remote, distances are great, speeds are high and the traffic is light, so enjoy the views!
Rain is a rare event in the Chihuahuan Desert. When it does rain, please do not drive a 2-wheel drive vehicle on dirt roads. Wait for them to dry out. If you must drive on a muddy road to get in or out of the Ranch, please call us and we will provide a 4×4 vehicle for you.
