Big Bend Places to Stay | The Gun Shop
The Gun Shop is the third of our Big Bend places to stay that you can reserve at Ten Bits Ranch (XBR). We styled the outside of this cabin after the Gun Shops you see in the old western towns. The cabin provides an amazing view of Hen Egg Mountain from its spacious covered porch.
Of all the Big Bend places to stay, you’ll love the décor of our Gun Shop. The Gun Shop contains one king bed, a gas log fireplace, flat screen HD TV (Dish Network), a private bath, WIFI access, electric heat, air conditioning, mini fridge, microwave and the spacious covered porch with an absolutely stunning view.
The Gun Shop is a standard single king room and is part of a duplex with the General Store. The Gun Shop and General Store have a connecting door that can provide an excellent option for groups of 4 to share these two rooms. Just reserve the Gun Shop and the General Store and share these two unique rooms during your stay. (Please be aware that noise from the adjoining room can be heard through the connecting doors.)
As part of our plan, each XBR cabin fits into the overall design of our western town. The décor reminds you of the late 1800s, but the amenities are modern. We are completely solar powered, so we are proud to say we’re off the grid! Our ranch power system has proven to be much more reliable than the local power company in the nearby town.
When you consider your options for Big Bend places to stay, you will be happy with our beautiful yet convenient location. We’re a short 15-minute drive to Terlingua and Study Butte. But we’re far enough away to rest and relax in the surrounding desert, where you can view the dark, star-filled sky and mountainous topography. Big Bend National Park and entrance to the Santa Elena Canyon Trail are just 20 minutes away.
While you’re staying at Ten Bits Ranch, you will have access to the Cantina, which is a unique amenity that so many of our guests enjoy. Your room access code will also give you access to the Cantina. Guests will find a simple self-serve continental breakfast provided 24/7 in the Cantina. There is a large dining area and full kitchen as well. Three full-size refrigerators and two stoves and oven are available for all guests to use during their stay. Out back of the Cantina, you will also find two propane grills for your use. Pots and pans, dishes and basic utensils are provided for use during your stay at Ten Bits Ranch. If you want a specific food or need a specific utensil, please bring it with you. By preparing their own food, many of our guests save as much as $30-$100 per day in meal cost.
Imagine a day exploring the Chihuahuan desert. Perhaps you prefer a simple hike through the desert trails. Either way, you can rest and relax when you return to the Gun Shop for some good food (self-prepared in our shared kitchen found in the Cantina), a cool desert evening and a night sky with stars that go on forever.
