Big Bend Rooms | The Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse is the second of our Big Bend rooms you can reserve at Ten Bits Ranch (XBR). We styled the outside of this room after the schoolhouses you see in the old western towns. The cabin provides an amazing view of Hen Egg Mountain from its spacious covered back porch.

You’ll love the décor of this Big Bend room. The Schoolhouse contains one king bed, a gas log fireplace, flat screen HD TV (Dish Network), a private bath, WIFI access, electric heat, air conditioning, mini fridge, microwave, and the spacious covered back porch with an absolutely stunning view.

The Schoolhouse is a standard single king room and is part of a duplex with the Bank. Please be aware that these rooms share a common wall and some noise from the neighboring room may be noticed during your stay.

As part of our plan, each XBR room fits into the overall design of our western town. The décor reminds you of the late 1800s, but the amenities are modern. We are completely off the grid with solar powered energy. Our power system has proven to be much more reliable than the local power company in town.

When you consider your options for Big Bend rooms, you will be happy with our beautiful yet convenient location. We’re a short 15-minute drive to Terlingua and Study Butte. But we’re far enough away to rest and relax in the surrounding desert, view the dark, star-filled sky and mountainous topography. Big Bend National Park and entrance to the Santa Elena Canyon Trail are just 20 minutes away.

The Ten Bits Ranch Cantina is a unique and enjoyable part of your experience at Ten Bits Ranch. Your room access code will also allow you access to the Cantina. Guests will find a simple self-serve continental breakfast provided 24/7 in the Cantina. There is also a large dining area and full-kitchen in the Cantina. Three full-size refrigerators and two stoves and oven are available for all guests to use during their stay. Out back of the Cantina, you will also find 2 propane grills for your use. Pots and pans, dishes and basic utensils are provided for use during your stay at Ten Bits Ranch. If you want a specific food or need a specific utensil, please bring it with you. Many people use our kitchen to save money while traveling. You can save $30-$100 per day preparing your own dinner.

Imagine a day exploring the Chihuahuan desert. Perhaps you prefer a simple hike through the desert trails. Either way, you can rest and relax when you return to the Schoolhouse for some good food (self-prepared in our shared kitchen found in the Cantina), a cool desert evening and a night sky with stars that go on forever.

We will fill up well in advance as do many Big Bend rooms, so make your reservation today.
